Endless Production Capabilities

Enhance your production with advanced drilling, marking, automation, and workflow management solutions.

Features

Perfectly Normal MG Series Features

MG machine with 2 plasma rotators cutting in parallel

The endless rotator enables high-quality weld edge preparation with bevels ranging up to 52° (plasma) or 60° (oxyfuel) on sheets, pipes, profiles as well as domes. The powerful and compact design ensures high precision and dynamics that allows even complex bevel contours to be cut in a reliable manner.

By default, the beveling system comes equipped with the patented auto-calibration system ACTG® that significantly improves precision and dimensional accuracy of the cutting process, eliminates tedious mechanical adjustments, and substantially increases productivity of the machine.

An MG machine's gantry with a drilling tool station, an oxyfuel cutting tool station, a marking tool station and a plasma rotator

MG machines provide a wide variety of applications: bevel cutting with plasma and oxyfuel, pipe, profile, dome or elbow cutting, drilling with automatic tool exchange, plate positioning with laser sensor or a CCD camera, inkjet or micropercussion marking. A special heightened version of gantry enables oxyfuel cutting up to 250 mm.

Drilling tool station drilling into material held on the cutting table by a retainer

The fully automatic drilling solution provides a substantial added value for your production. Before the parts are cut, precise holes up to Ø40 mm, threads up to M33 and countersinks can be produced within the same cutting plan.

Optionally, its functionality can be extended to marking and a selected range of milling operations: milling of slots, pockets, blind holes, enlarging of holes, thread milling, and small surface milling.

For a smooth and fast tool change, the machine can be equipped with a tool magazine for 6, 8 or 16 tools.

Part processed by Additional Beveling Process on a cutting table with a plasma torch above it

Parts with thicknesses so big that direct beveling is not possible can still have their edges beveled thanks to Micros-tep’s Additional Beveling Process (ABP).

V-, Y-, X- as well as K-cuts are done via scanning and cutting in a precise and cost-saving way that eliminates the necessity of secondary processing on another machine.

Pipe being cut by a plasma torch in a pipe cutting water channel

The pipe cutting option on MicroStep machines enables weld edge preparation on pipes and hollow sections, with diameters of pipes ranging from 30 to 1,000 mm.

Steel dome being cut by a plasma rotator on an MG machine

The sturdy machine frame and gantry construction of MG series enables dome processing up to Ø4,000 mm. Different types of tool stations provide a different extent of reach over the dome surface and thus offer various dome processing options.

Gravostar marking tool mounted on a drilling tool station processing material on a cutting table

The MG machine can be equipped with diverse marking technologies, such as inkjet that can print up to 4 lines of text in one go, a laser marker that can also be used to remove rust from the surface or a micro-percussion marker that offers the advantage of indelibility and visibility even after subsequent painting or coating of the part, without weakening or removing material in the process.

The more complex the cutting task, the greater the need for the machine to “see” what it is doing. A laser scanner with its dedicated software can determine how a true shape of a workpiece differs from its model representation, how a plate is aligned on a cutting table, where exactly the part intended for Additional Beveling Process is positioned, thus helping increase the cutting precision and the final product’s quality.
